About Me

Heidi Waters

LMFT-Associate

Helping you reconnect with yourself and others in life-giving, authentic ways.

Supporting the Whole Person and the Whole Family

Every family has a story. I offer a safe, compassionate space for individuals, couples, and families navigating the beautiful, complex, and often messy realities of life. Whether you're a couple longing to reconnect, a parent raising a differently abled child, or a family that’s never quite fit the mold, you are welcome here.

I work with children learning to express big emotions, teens exploring who they are, couples aching to feel close again, and families doing their best to stay connected while life pulls them in different directions. I enter each story with care, hope, and deep respect for where you have been and where you are going.

My approach is strength based, systemic, and deeply relational. I draw from models like Structural Family Therapy, Virginia Satir’s systemic and growth focused model, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. I blend these with Polyvagal Theory and Emotional Transformation Therapy (ETT) to support emotional safety, nervous system regulation, and healing at a deeper level.

I help clients grow in self-awareness and inner alignment, fostering greater congruence between what they feel, believe, and express so they can show up more fully in their relationships and in life. Together, we explore the ways communication patterns either connect or divide and practice more authentic and life giving ways of relating.

For those who find strength and grounding in their faith, I welcome the integration of spiritual beliefs into our work. I honor the role faith can play in healing and wholeness and am happy to hold that space for those who desire it.

I am especially passionate about supporting individuals, couples, and families through complex seasons, whether you are navigating illness, disability, neurodiversity, trauma, or major transitions. I understand how heavy life can feel when you are doing your best but still struggling to find peace or connection. You do not have to have it all figured out. Whether you are seeking clarity, reconnection, relief, or simply a safe place to land, I will meet you there. Together, we will move at your pace with curiosity, creativity, and compassion toward healing that feels real, lasting, and true to who you are.

Welcome

Family has shaped every part of who I am—through the raw, beautiful realities of raising children whose lives don’t fit neat categories. The lessons came through love, advocacy, uncertainty, and learning how to hold joy and heartbreak in the same hand.

My husband and I have spent decades walking with our uniquely wired and deeply loved children through disability, neurodiversity, trauma, and adoption. And through 36 years in a neurodiverse marriage, I’ve discovered a deep and steady love—not built on ease, but forged through grit, grace, repair, and choosing each other again and again. These experiences didn’t just teach me—they transformed me.

I learned how to sit beside pain without rushing it, how to celebrate quiet victories others might miss, and how to keep showing up with compassion when answers are hard to find. This life has softened me, stretched me, and shown me the power of being seen, heard, and held—exactly as you are.

The joyful face you see here belongs to my son Tucker, whose love of life and fearless spirit have inspired much of this work. His light reminds me daily why investing in the hearts of families matters. He is the reason I do this—not just as a profession, but as a calling.

If your path feels heavy or unseen, if your family carries both deep love and deep weariness, you are not alone. I would be honored to walk alongside you with care, respect, and unwavering hope for what is possible.

This Is Where Healing Begins

It can be surprising how far apart we feel from the people we love most. Sometimes that distance comes from stress, caregiving, grief, silence, or just the slow weight of holding everything together. Maybe joy feels like something meant for other people. I understand this both personally and professionally.

With a master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy, a background in early childhood education, and decades of lived experience inside a complex and neurodiverse family system, I have learned that connection is always possible. Even in times of tension, disconnection, or weariness, there is a way back to each other.

If your family feels worn thin, disconnected, or unsure where to begin, you are not alone.

Much of my work centers on helping families create home environments that are safe, emotionally honest, and life-giving. I support lasting shifts in communication, trust, and shared joy, not as a return to perfection, but as a return to each other.

From that place, laughter can return to the dinner table, tenderness can grow where tension once lived, and the rhythm of family life can begin to feel like home again or become a kind of home you never had, but deeply deserve. Every journey starts somewhere. If you are ready to move forward, I am here to walk with you toward the connection, clarity, and strength your family deserves.
